Obituary: James Kenneth ‘Snake’ Hicks, 66, Bardstown

JAMES KENNETH “SNAKE” HICKS

James Kenneth “Snake” Hicks, 66, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at his residence. He was born Jan. 6, 1950, in Bardstown to the late John Hicks Sr. and Izola Riggs Bogle. He was retired from Buzick Construction as an equipment manager. He was a Catholic by faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Hicks Jr.; and his stepfather, Richard Bogle.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Myra Hawkins Hicks; three sons, Dan (Karen) Hicks, Ken Hicks and John (Ladara) Hicks, all of Bardstown; one brother, Larry (Denise) Hicks of Bardstown; and three grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Karl Lusk officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, and 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Mitchell Henry Fund for bone marrow transplant in care of Ben Henry.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
