Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 — The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church invites the community to worship the Christ of Christmas with them through music, scripture, and drama.

During the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, the adult choir will sing “Bethlehem Morning.” This musical — directed by Margareth Miguel — was created and arranged by the Dove award-winning team of Sue C. Smith & Russell Mauldin.

Margareth Miguel is a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil where she received a Bachelor of Church Music and Bachelor of Vocal Music. She is a nine-year resident of Kentucky who received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Campbellsville University. She soon will return to Brazil for a two-week visit with her family and friends.

Following “Bethlehem Morning,” a brief message will be given by the interim pastor, Gerald Hegwood.

At 7 p.m. that evening, a less formal worship experience is offered through drama — as it has been for the past 75 years. Two plays — “Christmas Rapping” with pre-teens of the church and “Christmissed?” with teens and adults — will be presented with purchased permission of Christian Publishers.

Following the plays, another tradition of 75 years continues. A small brown paper bag filled with an apple, an orange, and a candy cane is given to each child attending. The treats are sponsored by the church Sunday School department. In recent years, the treats, as long as they last, have been given to all ages of attendees.

Another tradition of The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church is the annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship Service at 11p.m., held this year Saturday, Dec. 24. A highlight of the evening is the reading of the Christmas story – the birth of Jesus – as told in the Bible books of Matthew and Luke.

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions will be received during the service. Every penny given to this mission offering goes to support the work of Southern Baptist missionaries serving in countries outside of North America.

At the close of the service, worship continues as people encircle the sanctuary with lighted candles and a cappella singing of “Silent Night, Holy Night”.

Everyone is invited to attend these and all activities and worship services of the church. Sunday Bible study begins at 9:45am for all ages and is followed by Sunday worship service at 11:00am. For more information regarding these activities, call 502-507-7159.

The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church is located five miles west of Bardstown off Highway 62 (Boston Road) on Highway 733 (Bellwood Road).
