Nelson County Fire responds for Boston Road structure fire Thursday afternoon

Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, 11 a.m. — A large garage building suffered extensive damage in a fire Thursday afternoon in the 5000 block of Boston Road.
The Nelson County Fire Department was dispatched to Boston Road for a structure fire at about 3:45 p..m. The first firefighters on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the structure. They had control of the fire by about 4:55, and reported the fire was extinguished at 8:47 p.m.
Firefighters had been filling their tanker trucks at a filling station at the corner of Bellwood and Boston Road, and requested the highway department apply salt on standing water in the area to keep it from freezing.
Firefighters were dispatched back the fire location at about 8:47 p.m. when the fire rekindled. Fire crews remained on scene extinguishing the fire until 11:12 p.m.
