Obituary: L. C. Geoghegan, 92, Bardstown

L.C. GEOGHEGAN

L. C. Geoghegan, 92, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at his residence. He was born July 21, 1924, in Nelson County. He was a self-employed farmer, a retired salesman for Commonwealth Insurance and a real estate salesman. He was former owner of Geoghegan Seed and Equipment Company, and a member of FFA, where he received the American Farmer Degree. He was a member of Boston Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Mattie Crady Geoghegan; two sisters, Martha Hazel Geoghegan and Lucille Wilson Geoghegan; one brother, John Hollan Geoghegan; and one great-grandson, Thomas Lee Dereksen.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Valla Geoghegan of Bardstown; three daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Dereksen of Louisville, Martha Lucille “Myrt” Geoghegan of Lexington and Diana (Michael) McDonald of Fredericktown; one son, Lenard Crady (Vicky) Geoghegan Jr. of Hudson, Mass; three grandchildren, Robert Lee (Rene) Dereksen, Jenna (J.J.) Haupert, and Michael Chandler (Ashlyn) McDonald; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday Dec. 29, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery with Chaplain Terry Troutman officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to donor’s favorite charity.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
