Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, 5 p.m. – The Bardstown City Council met in regular session Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, and said goodbye to four outgoing council members: Bobby Simpson and Fred Hagan, both of whom did not seek re-election; Bill Buckman and Francis Lydian, both of whom lost in the Nov. 8, 2016 general election. Sen. Jimmy Higdon swore in the new council: incumbents Kecia Copeland and Roland Williams, as well as former mayors Bill Sheckles and Dick Heaton, former councilmember Joe Buckman, and former city attorney and county attorney, John S. Kelley Jr. The council also received a report on the city’s audio. Councilman Fred Hagan told the council he would not make a motion to hire an investigator to look into possible use of city resources or personnel in regard to the anonymous election-eve packet of public documents involving councilwoman Kecia Copeland and councilman Francis Lydian, leaving that decision for the incoming council. Running time: About 47 minutes.
