Bardstown Fire Dept. responds to large barn fire on Fairfield Road

Wednesday, May 25, 2011, 12:39 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to barn fire Wednesday morning at 2850 Fairfield Road. The call came in to Nelson County Dispatch at about 12:40 a.m. The caller told dispatchers the barn was heavily involved in flames. The incident commander arrived first at the fire scene and advised some vehicles were in the barn. The Northeast Nelson Fire Department provided manpower and tankers to assist the Bardstown Fire Department. Nelson County EMS responded for standby at the fire. By 2 a.m., firefighters reported they had the fire under control, but would be at the fire scene for some time checking for hot spots.
