Obituary: David C. ‘Topper’ Montgomery, 70, Lebanon
David C. “Topper” Montgomery, 70, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at his residence. He was born Oct. 21, 1946, in Washington County. He was a retired farmer and most recently worked with a smiling face as a Walmart greeter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lyda Jean Elder Montgomery (2006); and his parents, John Columbus and Margaret Reed Montgomery.
Survivors include three sons, David (Susie) Montgomery, Keith (April) Montgomery, and Fred (Anneliese) Montgomery, all of Lebanon; one brother, Billy Montgomery of Bardstown; four sisters, Jean Boone of Howardstown, Sr. Joyce Montgomery of Bardstown, Nancy Stanton of Bardstown, and Betsy Socha of Howell, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Allen Michael Cecil, Nathan Shewmaker, Chelsey Shewmaker, Brandon Knopp, Lyda Nicole Montgomery, Freddy Paul Montgomery, Daniel Riddle and Derek Riddle; and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. David Naylor as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Joe Dant.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Charles Church Cemetery.
