City preservation office sponsoring free cemetery restoration workshop

Friday, March 31, 2017 — The City of Bardstown preservation office has scheduled a free workshop on cemetery restoration from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, in the second floor conference room at the COBEC building, 219 East Muir St., next to Foster Heights Elementary School.
Jason Church, a nationally renowned cemetery preservationist from Louisiana, will offer a brief lecture on cemetery documentation, photography, cleaning and preservation planning, followed by hands-on training to reset and repair headstones in the Bardstown Cemetery. Free pizza and drinks will be provided.
Those who attend will also have the chance to meet City of Bardstown Preservation Coordinator RaShae Jennings and learn about the Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) application process and Historic Review Board rules and regulations.
