Poplar Flat Road home damaged by fire early Sunday morning

Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, 3 p.m. — A home near the Woodlawn community was damaged by fire early Sunday morning.

Nelson County Fire and Nelson County EMS were dispatched at about 6 a.m. to a fire reported at a home in the 2500 block of Poplar Flat Road, between Pinehurst Drive and Pembrooke Drive. The first units on the scene reported flames visible at the home. Residents evacuated the home prior to emergency crews arriving. Firefighters were assisted by members of the Northeast Nelson Fire Department. Firefighters cleared the scene at about 11:30 a.m.
