Obituary: Lahoma Terry Routt, 96, Elizabethtown
Lahoma Terry Routt, 96, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at her home. She was a native of Upton, a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church since 1942 and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.
After the death of her husband, she took over Routt Real Estate and was a very successful entrepreneur. She started the Lahoma Routt Fund to help offset the cost of church camps and mission trips for those children who were less fortunate. She loved to travel, enjoyed life and was a good mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Carrol Routt; her parents, Gault and Nannie Dixon Terry; one sister, Juanita Polley; and one brother, Harold Terry.
She is survived by one daughter, Joyce M. Howard of Elizabethtown; one son, William Thomas “Bill” Routt (Wanda) of Cave City; six grandchildren, Patrick Routt, Diana Routt, Sherry Thurman, Stephanie Slinker, Douglas Paul Howard and David Curtis Howard; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her special caregivers, Joann Juett and Laura Rogers and several other caregivers and three nieces, Cindy Carden (Steve) and Cherl Bennett (Dave), both of Sellersburg and Terri Lynn Terrett of Bardstown.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Pastor Bill Langley officiating. Burial is in Hardin Memorial Park.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, and 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
