KATHARINA “JACKIE” BALLARD
Katharina “Jackie” Ballard, 89, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born July 9, 1927, in Munich, Germany. She retired from Barton’s Distillery Company after 42 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and an avid quilter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Katharina Streif; and two brothers, Felix and Johann Streif.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Howard Ballard of Bardstown; one daughter, Evelyn Watkins of Louisville; two sons, Dr. Ollie (Nancy) Dennis of Glasgow, and George Dennis of Bardstown; one brother, Herman (Dora) Streif of Hartkirchen, Germany; two granddaughters, Eileen (Scott) Lindsay and Alicia Dennis; five grandsons, Chris (Sarah) Watkins, Dr. Brandon (Holly) Dennis, Dr. Blake Dennis, Adam (Samantha) Dennis, and Andrew Dennis; six great-grandchildren; and and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday Jan. 21, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with cremation to follow. The Rev. Terry Bradshaw will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 and 8-9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown with a prayer service Friday evening.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
