Obituary: Miles E. Durbin Sr., 74, Bardstown
Miles E. Durbin Sr., 74, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at U of L Medical Center in Louisville. He was born April 27, 1942, in Bardstown. He was a 1960 graduate of St. Joe Prep and a self-employed farmer. He was a former Nelson County Sheriff’s Police Officer and member of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department, and a former employee of L & N Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Jean Durbin; his parents, Curtis and Anna Lena Durbin; one sister, Anna Faye Sherrard; one brother, Joseph Michael Durbin; and one granddaughter, Michael Jean Durbin.
He is survived by two sons, Miles E. Durbin Jr., and Martin C. (Valerie) Durbin, both of Bardstown; four sisters, Lyda J. Smith of Pensacola, Fla, Dorothy Rita (Robert) Flanagan of Tucson, Ariz., Mary Generose (Michael) Huff of Lebanon, and Mary Faith (Bernard) Nelson of Crestwood; three brothers, Curtis Leslie Durbin Jr. of Floyds Knobs, Ind., Charles Emmanuel (Carol) Durbin of Pensacola, Fla., and William Jerome (Kathie) Durbin of Indianapolis;
one granddaughter, Scarlett A. Durbin; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with a 1 p.m. graveside service at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery in Corydon, Ind. with Bro. Tim Lucas officiating.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Barlow Funeral Home.
