Obituary: Joseph Richard Garmon, 97, Lebanon Junction
Joseph Richard Garmon, 97, of Lebanon Junction, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at the Christian Healthcare Center in Bowling Green. He was an Army veteran of the Second Armored Division where he served in the European Theater. He was a retired teacher who taught at the Lebanon Junction High School and Valley High School in Jefferson County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Junction, the Bullitt County Retired Teachers’ Association, the Lebanon Junction VFW Post and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Boone Garmon; and his parents, James Richard and Laura F. Clark Garmon.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Tabor (Ron); two grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Tabor and Stephen Garmon Tabor; one sister-in-law, Jan Boone; one niece, Laura Berube (Jack); two nephews, Michael Boone (Christen) and Robert Thompson (Lois); and several great nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Junction with the Rev. Rick White officiating. Burial is in the Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, and after 11 a.m. Friday at the Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Junction in his memory.
