Local man seriously injured in rollover crash early Saturday morning

Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, 11 a.m. — A Nelson County man was seriously injured early Saturday morning when the pickup truck he was driving ran off ems_640Louisville Road, overturned and caught fire.

At about 3:36 a.m., Nelson County Dispatch received a report of a 2000 Ford F-150 overturned and on fire in the area of 11535 Louisville Road, near the KY 480 intersection. Bystanders rescued the victim, identified as Jamie Hellard, 41, from the burning vehicle. The truck was fully involved in flames by the time fire, police and Nelson County EMS arrived.

EMS treated Hellard at the scene, then transported him to at the Riverview Baptist Church lookout to meet with a medical helicopter. He was flown to University Hospital with multiple injuries.
