Obituary: Charlie Leathers, 73, Bloomfield
Charlie Leathers, 73, of Bloomfield, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at his residence. He was born Nov. 3, 1943, in Shelbyville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam. He worked for Smith Transfer and retired from UPS. He was a faithful member of Bloomfield Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was a member of the Whiskey City Cruisers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Mae Leathers; and a half-sister, Betty Bowles.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette Leathers of Bloomfield; one daughter, Shelly Thompson of Eminence; one son, Tony Avritt of Bardstown; one sister, Judy Hudson of Boston; three grandchildren; two-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown with burial in Lebanon National Cemetery with the Rev. Leland Parks officiating.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
