Obituary: Michael ‘Tiger’ Robert Wathen, 65, Shepherdsville
Michael “Tiger” Robert Wathen, 65, of Shepherdsville, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at Hosparus in Louisville. He was born on Sept. 1, 1951, in Bardstown to the late Joseph Leo and Helen Clements Wathen. He was a retired employee of General Electric working in the warehouse. He was an avid UK and Harley Davidson fan and member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Shepherdsville.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sonny Wathen, Jerry Wathen, Donnie Wathen, Billy Wathen, Jimmy Wathen and Harold Wathen.
He is survived by his wife Judy Gayle Peters Wathen; one son, Robert Andrew Wathen of Bardstown; five sisters, Carolyn Ballard, Lois (Bobby) Ballard, Flo Hobbs, and Martha Bickett, all of Bardstown, and Maggie (Joe) Devine of Santa Rose Beach, Fla.; one brother, Tommy Wathen of Bardstown; and two granddaughters, Drew Wathen and Simi Wathen, both of Bardstown.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Shepherdsville with the Rev. Brian Kenney as celebrant.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, and after 8 p.m. Thursday at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, Bardstown.
The family requests contributions be made in the form of contributions to American Cancer Society or Hosparus.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
