JAMES R. “JIMMIE” THOMPSON

James R. “Jimmie” Thompson, 74, of Bardstown, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1942, in Lebanon. He retired from Jideco and previously worked at the old Bird & Son, and Polyair. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and enjoyed being a cattle buyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and LaVerne Thompson; and one brother, Joey Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Downs Thompson; one daughter, Tammy Blincoe; seven sisters, Mary Wilson and Shirley Dewboy both of Louisville, Debbie (Tommy) Shaw of Shelbyville, Jane (Ken) Shelver, Jan (David) Stansbury, Vicky (John) Brothers and Crystal (Doug) Scurlock, all of Bardstown; four brothers, Johnny (Marion) Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Eddie (Sharon) Thompson, Tony Thompson and Todd (Ann) Thompson, all of Bardstown; his stepmother, Maggie Larimore all of Bardstown; one grandson, Gabe Blincoe; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery with Deacon Sam Filiatreau officiating.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
