Obituary: John Young, 50, Bardstown
John Young, 50, of Bardstown, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1966, in New Brunswick, N.J. He was a pastor, theologian, and scholar. He earned the Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Caroline and was recently a student at The Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville. Before joining the congregation of Parkway Baptist Church, he pastored Baptist churches in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, Kentucky and Indiana. Since his disability, he enjoyed writing online to educate others about reformed theology.
He is survived by his wife, Tracee; three children, Ryan Neill Young, Camellia (Cammie) Young, and Magnolia Young, all of Bardstown; his parents, Jack & Joyce Young of Lancaster, Penn.; one brother, Ken Young of Lancaster, Penn.; and other family and friends.
The family expresses special thanks to Mike Brooks for his friendship to John through his last few years as well as to Dr. & Mrs. Jacob (Lee Ann) Vincent for their caring ministry.
The Celebration of Life is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Parkway Baptist Church, with Dr. James Carroll, pastor and friend officiating.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at the church.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
