Obituary: Fredrick Gene Turpin, 82, Lebanon

Fredrick Gene Turpin, 82, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at his residence. He was born June 26, 1934, in Farmer City, Ill. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, past Master of the Masons, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He also taught 17 years at the funeral_candleUniversity of Illinois in the field of computer electronics. He enjoyed farming, owned a trucking company, and was the owner of Cedarwood Restaurant in Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Marshall and Hallie Mae Weatherford Turpin; two daughters, Juanita Joyce Turpin and Bonita Sue Turpin; one brother, Heber Dale Turpin; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Wren.

Survivors include his wife, Pina Cornell Turpin of Lebanon; one daughter, Rebecca (Willy) Wren of Gravel Switch; two sons, Randy (Kay) Turpin and Roger (Donna) Turpin, both of Lebanon; one sister, Charmain Webb of Bountiful, Utah; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Bosley Funeral Home. Burial is in the Lebanon National Cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 4-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at the funeral home with a Masonic service 7 p.m. Thursday.
