Obituary: Helen Rose Milburn, 85, formerly of Chaplin
Helen Rose Milburn, 85, of Mount Washington, formerly of Chaplin, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Baptist Healthcare in Louisville. She was born June 6, 1931, in Bloomfield to the late Willie Mark and Amanda Taylor Hawthorne. She was a retired employee of General Electric, a member of Cove Baptist Church in Fairdale, and faithfully read her Bible daily.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Judea Jackson; her second husband, Offus Milburn; four sisters, Sadie Parsons, Ada Milburn, Katie Wolf, and Willie Taylor; and five brothers, Orville Hawthorne, Joe Hawthorne, Raymond Hawthorne, Eugene Hawthorne, and Clellen Hawthorne.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Bobby) Spears of Mount Washington; two sisters, Barbara Shirley and Mary Jane Sorrell, both of Mount Washington; four granddaughters, Dena (Dewey) Hutchens and DeLenna (Kevin) Wallitsch, both of Fern Creek, Darla (Billy) Smith of Mount Washington, and Devona (Michael) O’Brien of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Bill Compton officiating. Burial is in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at the funeral home.
