Obituary: Joseph Elmer Livers, 70, Bardstown
Joseph Elmer Livers, 70, of Bardstown, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born Dec. 16, 1946, in Nelson County. He was a business owner and operator of Livers Body Shop Inc. and Rhino Lining Central Kentucky with his wife Rita for 46 years. He was ordained in 1982 as a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Louisville. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and was active with nearly all its activities nearly all his life. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work, and restoring old antiques (including cars and motorcycles). He enjoyed the relationships of customers, friends, and family, and considered them as a gift from God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Chester and Mary Thelma Livers; and two brothers, J.C. Livers, and Leo Livers.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Osbourne Livers of Bardstown; one daughter, Jennifer Renee Harris of Louisville; one son, Jason Neal (Jessica) Livers of Bardstown; three sisters, Janelle Stansbury of Fern Creek, Jane (Sonny) Spalding of Louisville, and Catherine (Raymond) Allender of Bardstown; four brothers, Bob (Barbara) Livers of Bardstown, Jerry (Sandy) Livers and Billy (Marilyn) Livers, both of Cox’s Creek, and Jimmy (Linda) Livers of Shelbyville; two sisters-in-law, Rose Livers, and Linda Livers; four grandchildren, Hunter Livers, Madison Livers, Cameron Harris and Olivia Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at St. Gregory Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Paul Eve officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 and 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church with a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Gregory Catholic Church or St. Gregory School.
