Obituary: Charles ‘Bunk’ Hickman, 96, Bardstown

Charles “Bunk” Hickman, 96, of Bardstown, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Signature Health Care at Colonial. He was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Louisville, retired from Voigt Steel Company and Foodland. He was a longtime entrepreneur and a member of St. John AME Zion Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. and Willie T. Hickman; one sister, Madge Wickliffe; and two brothers, Emery and Herbert Lee Hickman.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hickman of Bardstown; two daughters, Michelle Hickman of Indianapolis and Tara Stivers of Bloomfield; two sons, Charles Clifton Hickman of Indianapolis and Erik Walker of Bardstown; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The memorial service is 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at St. John AME Zion Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Roscoe M. Linton officiating.

Visitation is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
