Two injured in Tuesday morning crash on New Hope Road


ems_640Tuesday, March 14, 2017 — Two people were injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of J.T. Riggs and New Hope Road.

Nelson County EMS, New Hope Fire and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 10:49 a.m. for the injury accident. According to press release from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Olivia Beck, 18, was attempting to turn left from J.T. Riggs Road onto New Hope Road when her car was struck by an eastbound vehicle operated by Joseph Mahoney, 75. EMS treated Beck at the scene and transported her to Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was later flown to University Hospital for treatment of her injuries and was listed in stable condition. Mahoney was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. An infant traveling with Beck appeared uninjured but was taken by private vehicle to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident.
