Obituary: Doris Lee Bowling, 92, Bardstown

Doris Lee Bowling, 92, of Bardstown, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Signature at Colonial Health & Rehab of Bardstown. She was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Louisville to the late Ferdinand M. and Leona M. Minoque Rosenberger. She was a retired clerk for the former Spalding & Son and a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Bowling; one son, Thomas Bowling; one son-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Bogard; and two grandsons, Tommy Bowling and Gregory Bowling.

She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Bogard of Bardstown; two granddaughters, Diana (Michael) Newton of Cox’s Creek and Cindy (Gerald) Blaylock of Bardstown; five grandsons, Robby Bogard, Jason (Jennifer) Bogard, Justin (Brittany) Bogard, Kevin Bogard all of Bardstown and Andrew Bowling of Louisville; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Bowling of Louisville; a special friend, Bonnie Bowling of Cox’s Creek; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, at St. Gregory Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Do as celebrant. Burial is in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, and after 8 a.m. Monday, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Rd. is in charge of arrangements.
