Obituary: Cody Duane Mayfield, 17, Loretto
Cody Duane Mayfield, 17, of Loretto, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at his home. He was born Aug. 9, 1999, to Michael and Sonja Douglas Mayfield. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. His early years of school was spent at Park City Elementary School.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joan Karlett “Sue” Douglas, Mary Helen Douglas and Thomas Clarence Douglas, Lorene (William) Mayfield, Brock Douglas, Nancy (T.T.) Brady and Cheryl Amorette.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Sonja Mayfield; three sisters, Amber (Sam) Kirk and son Everett of Knoxville, Tenn., Bethany Higdon (Matt) Decker of Cave City, and Rebekah (Ethan) Biggerstaff and daughter Abby of Thomkinsville; two brothers, Michael Higdon (fiance Sarah Browning and her daughter Aubree) of Bonnieville and Christopher Higdon of Culvertown; uncles Tommy “Boogie” (Melanie) Douglas, Tracy (Rhonda) Douglas and daughter Carly Douglas, Gail (Chuck) Sonn, Billy Mayfield (Cindy), Irene (Ricky) Moore, Leo, Lana and Sheri Brady; one grandfather, Ronnie Douglas of Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral is 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, in the chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 North Main St. in New Haven with Bro. Bobby Pirtle officiating. Burial is in the St. Catherine Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Therapeutic Camp in Cody’s honor, c/o Camp T.J. Samson Hospital Rehabilitation, 310 NL Roger Wells Blvd, Glasgow, KY 42142.
