Obituary: Joseph K. Burks Jr., 76, Lebanon Junction

Joseph K. Burks Jr., 76, of Lebanon Junction, died Thursday, March 16, 2017. He was a former employee of Fishel and was also a vendor at both the Shepherdsville and Elizabethtown Flea Markets. He was a Baptist by faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph K. Burks Sr. and Bessie Mae Jackson Burks; three sisters, Ruby, Josephine and Margie; and one brother, Otis.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret Rice Burks; two sons, Doug Burks (Beth) and Jerry Burks; two sisters, Dorothy Price and Evelyn Mahoney; three granddaughters, Mary Curtsinger (Jessie), Ashley Ehalt (Wesley) and Hailey Burks; and one great-grandson, Dalton Starkey.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, at Kappel Funeral Home with burial in the Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
