Obituary: Blanche Warrener Moran, 80, formerly of Bardstown

Blanche Warrener Moran, 80, of Kingsport, Tenn., formerly of Bowling Green and Bardstown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 7, 2017, after a long illness. She was a longtime resident of Bardstown, where she moved after graduating from Western Kentucky University. She taught physical education at Bethlehem High School and served on the city’s recreation department board. Additionally, she was a substitute teacher for Bardstown area schools.

She was adventurous as a young lady, having explored the wilds of Canada as a teen. This adventurous spirit continued throughout her life as she continued her interest in Girl Scouting, traveled internationally, and thru her volunteer work in Guatemala with Children of the Americas. She cultivated her love of the outdoors through her volunteer work with Bernheim Arboretum, where she shared her knowledge of flora and fauna. Additionally, she spent time caring for animals at the Nelson County Humane society. She also enjoyed tending to her extensive flower gardens and observing wildlife on the family’s rural property.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Mo” Moran; and her parents, E.B. and Lilyan Warrener.

Survivors include three children, Gene Moran, Blake Moran, and Kelley Moran; one sister, Anne Britt; and two grandchildren, Austin Moran and Haley Whittle.

A celebration of her life is Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Garden Pavilion at Bernheim Arboretum. Please contact the family for details.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be directed as donations to Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, 2075 Clermont Rd, Clermont, KY 40110, or the American Cancer Society.
