Property tax deadline April 17; no checks accepted for April payments

Monday, March 27, 2017, 2 p.m. — The last day to pay 2016 Nelson County property taxes is Monday, April 17, 2017, since the 15th falls on a weekend and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is closed.

Payments will be accepted Monday, April 17, until 4:30 p.m. All unpaid property tax bills will be turned over to the Nelson County Clerk.

Due to problems created when a taxpayer’s payment doesn’t clear the bank, the Sheriff’s Office is requiring all property tax payments in April be made by certified check, cashier’s check, money order, credit card or cash. No personal checks will be accepted for property tax payments in April.
