Obituary: James Henry ‘Jimmy’ Douglas, 84, Icetown
James Henry “Jimmy” Douglas, 84, of Icetown, died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at his home in Icetown. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in Louisville after more than 20 years of service. He was a farmer most of his life. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He was born June 2, 1932, the son of the later Thomas C. and Theresa Ann Cissell Douglas. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Rose Bray and Zella Edlin; four brothers, Everett Douglas, Clarence Douglas, Earl Douglas and Mike Douglas; and two grandchildren, Tasha Douglas and Keith Dones.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Ann Eiler Douglas of Icetown; four daughters, Vicki Chapman of New Haven, Pam Rust of Icetown, and Elizabeth “Sissy” (Kenny) Pyle and Susan Dones, both of Bardstown; six sons, Tony (Evelyn) Douglas and David (Denise) Douglas, both of Bardstown, Frankie Douglas of Icetown, Billy (Christina) Douglas of Elizabethtown, Kevin (Kim) Douglas of New Haven, and Bobby (Felicia) Douglas of Boston; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, and 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St. in New Haven. A prayer service is 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
