Woodie Lee Vittitow, 89, Bardstown

Woodie Lee Vittitow, 89, of Bardstown, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at his residence.   He was born May 28, 1921, in Nelson County, was a World War II Navy veteran, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War, and retired from Geoghegan and Mathis Construction after 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margie Vittitow; his parents, Wood Lee, Sr. and Leona Ritchie Vittitow.

He is survived by three sons, Mike Vittitow of Fredericktown, Dwight (Barbara) Vittitow and Doug Vittitow, both of Bardstown; three daughters, Sharon Vittitow of Louisville, Ann Marie Dickerson (Connie) of Bardstown, and Peggy (Odell) Flener of Lanesville, Ind.; a brother, Jimmy Vittitow of Boston; two sisters, Doris Ann Yocum and Betty Montgomery, both of Bardstown; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren,  and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with a private burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. The Reverend Jewel Brock will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 until the time of the service at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home.
