Obituary: Anne Talbott Willett, 95, Bardstown

ANNE TALBOTT WILLETT

Anne Talbott Willett, 95, of Bardstown, died Sunday March 26, 2017, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Bardstown. She was a 1939 graduate of Nazareth Academy and Manhattanville College in New York in 1943. She worked for the American Red Cross as a Home Service Worker during World War II, and was a member of the John Fitch Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.). She married Robert Elmo Willett on May 12, 1946, at St. Joseph Cathedral. She was known as a local beauty with intellect and integrity, a devoted wife and mother, as well as a devout Catholic. Her hobbies included organic gardening and cooking. She enjoyed sharing her yeast rolls and fruit cakes, and from the garden, her beautiful roses, peonies, and asparagus. She was the family historian and an avid letter writer, who took great joy in keeping the family connected.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Dan Talbott and Rebecca Johnson Talbott; one daughter, Rebecca Willett Bloch; three sisters, Rebecca Stephenson Jenks, Naomi King, and Ella Reynolds; and five brothers, Ben Johnson Talbott, J. Dan Talbott Jr., John C. Talbott, Col. William J. Talbott, and Charles M. Talbott.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert Elmo Willett of Bardstown; one daughter, Anne Willett (Michael) Marshall of Mobile, Ala.; two sons, Dr. Robert Elmo (Kim) Willett Jr. of Mobile, Ala., and Lambert Willett of Louisville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Wilfredo Fernandez officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service will at 7 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Joseph Parish or St. Vincent de Paul Mission Store.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
