Obituary: Betty Eversole Roberts Hart, 83, Louisville

Betty Eversole Roberts Hart, 83, of Louisville, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017. She was born December 19, 1933, in Typo to the late Preston and Gertrude Wooten Eversole. As the youngest of eight children, she adored her older siblings and delighted in helping play with and care for her nieces and nephews in their young years.

She was a retired high school English and Spanish teacher known for her faith, her generosity, and her love for family and education. She earned an associate’s degree from Lee College in Tennessee, a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s degree from Western Kentucky University.

She was a member of Russell Springs United Methodist Church. Over the last year, she was cared for by the wonderful staff at Signature Healthcare of Rockford Rehab and Wellness in Louisville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. James Patten “Pat” Roberts; four sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include one son, Jonathan (Julie) Roberts of Louisville; her granddaughter, Julia Roberts of Bucyrus, Ohio; her husband, Donald Hart of Russell Springs; his children, David Hart and Alan (Annie) Hart, both of Louisville; one grandson, Andrew Hart of Louisville; many loving nieces and nephews; and longtime friends Charles and Diane Blankenship, and their daughter, Madelaine, of Russell Springs.

The funeral was 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home. in Elizabethtown. Burial was in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to foster care and adoption agencies such as Maryhurst, the Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Home, or Sunrise Children’s Services. She believed that adoption was among God’s greatest blessings and that every child deserves a safe and happy home.

Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown was in charge of arrangements.
