Obituary: James Gary Hicks, 79, Bardstown
James Gary Hicks, 79, of Bardstown, (UPDATED April 10 9:45 A.M.) died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Colonial Health and Rehab. He was born April 15, 1937, in New Hope. He was retired from Salsman Construction and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Dale Hicks; his parents, Robert and Gertrude Hicks; two sisters, Rosene Hicks and Arlene Elmore; one brother, Bobby Hicks; and one stepdaughter, Crystal Dawn Daugherty.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Cecil Hicks of Bardstown; one daughter, Belinda Gail Smith of South Carolina; one son, Gary Lynn Hicks of New York; five stepdaughters, Linda Evans of Oklahoma, Patricia Smith, Phyllis Ice-Moss and Wanda Turner, all three of Bardstown, and Barbara Donahue of Loretto; two sisters, Lesha Graves and Faye Walters; one brother, Jodie Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass is 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw will officiating.
Visitation is 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
