Obituary: James ‘Jim’ Land, 76, Bardstown

James “Jim” Land, 76, of Bardstown, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his residence. He was born March 1, 1941, in Bardstown. He worked at Heaven Hill Distillery for 34 years. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 121.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Buford Howard Land and Mary Catherine Shipp.

He is survived by his wife Else Land; two daughters, Michelle Lovvorn and Lenora (Timothy) Burke, both of Bardstown; one sister, Jo Ann (Freddie) Culver of Wilmore; one brother, Ronnie (Debbie) Land of Bardstown; two grandchildren, Caylen Lovvorn and Trenton Lovvorn; two great-grandchildren, Cayden Lovvorn and Karsyn Lovvorn; several nieces and nephews, and his favorite niece, Catherine Lynn (Charles) Pelston.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with Bro. Rodney Lynch officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, and 9011 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to Disables American Veterans (D.A.V.)
