DELLA BLANFORD CRAIG
Della Blanford Craig, 82, of Louisville, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at her home. She was born Feb. 9, 1935, and was a native of Holy Cross. Although she moved to the city of Louisville at the age of 18, she was a always a Holy Cross girl at heart. She was a former employee of Southern Bell and AT&T. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church where she managed the concession and gym rentals for years and made many friends at the parish. She was the eldest child of C. Fabian “Fabe” Blanford and Cecilia Edelen Blanford Beaven.
She had an outgoing personality who loved conversation and made friends wherever she went. She was dedicated to the rescue and care of all stray animals who happened to cross her path. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and reveled in their activities and accomplishments.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myrna Miles, and her special aunt Alicia Newton.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Gerald “Jerry” Craig; four children, Alan (Karen) Craig, Karen Finn (Paul), Sharon Craig and Lisa C. Tinnell; one sister, Marlene Blanford; one brother, William Edward Blanford; six grandchildren, Ashley Craig, Kyle Craig, Michael Tinnell (Brittany), Jared Tinnell, Matthew Finn and Eric Finn; two great-grandchildren, Aubree Sanders and Christian Tinnell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will preside.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society and Hosparus.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
