Obituary: Gladys Irene Cook, 85, Cox’s Creek
Gladys Irene Cook, 85, of Cox’s Creek, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Green Meadows Health Care Center in Mount Washington. She was the former Irene Taylor, a homemaker, and a longtime member of Riverview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben Cook; and siblings, James Taylor, Elizabeth Matherly, Georgia Raymond, Martha Spratt, Alline Burkhead, Virginia Floyd, and Lillian Mudd.
She is survived by her son, Gary Cook (Carla); one granddaughter, Amy Cook Graham (Jeff); and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ben, and Madeline.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mount Washington with burial in Highland Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial gifts take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
The McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
