Obituary: Dennis Eugene Fikter, 73, New Hope

DENNIS EUGENE FIKTER

Dennis Eugene Fikter, 73, of New Hope, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Signature Healthcare at Colonial Rehab and Wellness Center in Bardstown. He was born Jan. 24, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, to Eugene and Beatrice Williamson Fikter. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a self-employed mechanic who could repair anything.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Fikter. He was survived by his son, Spike W. Fikter, who later passed away after his father’s death.

He is survived by his wife, Gerda Loescher Fikter; two sons, Daniel (Pam) Fikter of Bardstown and Josh Fikter of Shepherdsville; his mother, Beatrice Highsmith of Willow Springs, Mo.; four sisters, Paulette Finn of Sterling, Ill., and Tammy Wood, Laura Rydstedt, and Greta (Gary) Marullo, all of Oregon; three brothers, Cal (Susie) Fikter and Steve (Angie) Fikter, both of Bakersfield, Calif., and Randy (Carmen) Fikter of Oregon; and 4 grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen by the family. There will be no public services.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
