Obituary: John Alvin ‘Jack’ Vittitow, 82, New Haven
John Alvin “Jack” Vittitow, 82, of New Haven, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at his home in New Haven. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church. He was born Dec. 29, 1934 the son of the late Floyd Clarence and Anna Viola Willett Vittitow. He loved sports; trap shooting, tennis and jogging, but his passion was golf. He will be missed in his community and by his family and friends.
He, along with his wife of 60 years, Anna Marie Rust Vittitow who passed Dec. 6, 2014, owned and operated Vittitow Custom Cabinets and Vittitown Basement Walls along with their children whom all are still operating the business together. He was a loved and respected father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and most of all, friend.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Marie Rust Vittitow; his parents; one sister, Oneida Davilia; and eight brothers, Melvin Vittitow, Ernest Vittitow, Raymond Vittitow, Albert Vittitow, Bobby Vittitow, Pat Vittitow, Harold Vittitow and Junior Vittitow.
He is survived by two daughters, Janice (Larry) Wooldridge of New Haven and Renee (Wayne) Head of Lawrenceburg; four sons, Mike (Dianna) Vittitow and Glen (Ann) Vittitow, both of New Haven, Phillip (Flip) Vittitow of Icetown and Terry (Dell) Vittitow of Bardstown; four sisters, Mary Juanita Roby and Mary Louise (Eddie) Nalley and Frances “Frankie” Willett Vittitow, all of Bardstown, and Mary Jo Ann Dalessandro of Burlington, N.J. and Sherry Embry of Louisville; three brothers, Joseph Louis Vittitow of Georgia, Joseph William “Billy” Vittitow of Prospect and Roger Vittitow of Louisville; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 and 8-10 a.m. Saturday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 North Main St., New Haven. A prayer service is 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.
In Lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Catherine of Alexandria School, First Street, New Haven, KY 40051.
