Obituary: Mary Alice Phillips Moran, 79, Bardstown

Mary Alice Phillips Moran, 79, of Bardstown, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Norton’s Brownsboro in Louisville. She was born July 19, 1937, in Nelson County. She retired from American Greetings, and was a former employee of Burroughs and Jonathan Logan Sewing Factory. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Fairfield, Lady’s Auxiliary and previous member of the Lucky 8 Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moran; her parents, James “Big Boy” and Sarah C. Phillips; and three brothers, Louis Arthur Phillips, Edward Cornelius Phillips, and James Rudolph Phillips.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon C. Downs of Bardstown; one son, Tim (Margaret) Downs of Bardstown; three sisters, Delores Phillips, Ethel Phillips and Wanda Bussey (Cornelius) all of Bardstown; three brothers, Charles L. Phillips of Buford, S.C., Joe Lee (Rita) Phillips of Louisville, and Randy (Brenda) Phillips of Bardstown, one aunt, Gin Reed; eight grandchildren, Autumn Downs, Joshua Downs, Jasmine Downs, Paisley Gadson, Brittany (Jason) Savage, Timothy M. Downs II, Trinity C. Downs, and Isiah Downs; 10 great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Holloway officiating.

Visitation is 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the church.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
