Obituary: James ‘Jim’ Harmon, KJ4FAU, 70, Princeton
James “Jim” Harmon, 70, of Princeton, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Caldwell Medical Center in Princeton. He was a licensed Amateur Radio operator who made countless friends via radio. He put his communication skills to work in his community as a volunteer weather spotter for the National Weather Service. He was also a dedicated volunteer in West Kentucky for the Kentucky Amateur Radio Emergency Service and for Caldwell County Emergency Management Agency. He was a construction worker and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Edward Harmon and Helen Wood Harmon.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Jane Thomas Harmon of Princeton; three daughters, Mechall Goss (Scott) of Pompano Beach, Fla., Frances Ann Point (Scott) of Sheffield, Ala., and Helen Nadine Lee (Lavon) of Plantation, Fla.; one son, James Edward “Bo” Harmon Jr. (Carrie) of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Jill Stevens of Princeton and Vicky Oliver of Cadiz; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Richie McKinney officiating. Burial is in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
