Obituary: John ‘Pres’ Preston Luckett Sr., 92, Lebanon

John “Pres” Preston Luckett Sr., 92, of Lebanon, died Sunday, May 07, 2017 at Springview Hospital. He was born to the late Ben T. Luckett and Elizabeth Wathen on Dec. 1, 1924, in Marion County.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepparents, James and Rhoda Luckett; two sisters, Cecilia Luckett and Lydia Luckett; one brother, Ben T. Luckett Jr.; five grandchildren, Carrie L Evans, Lindsay Marie Spalding, Daniel Joseph Spalding, James Brian Luckett and Carmen E Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Cecilia Lee Luckett of Lebanon; 12 daughters, Betty (Bill) Lancaster of Alabama, Lois (Michael O’Keefe of Louisville, Sue (Frank Reynolds of St. Joe, Mary Smith, Cindy (Ruck) Kelty, Angela Luckett, and Amy (Ben) Hayden, all of Lebanon, Theresa (Lee) Brahm of Loretta, Caroline (Jody) Smith, Marilyn (David) Spalding and Janice (Chip), all of Springfield and Frances (Fred) Medley of Calvary; five sons, Wendell (Nancy) Luckett and John Preston Luckett Jr., both of Lebanon, Jim (Linda) Luckett and Michael Luckett, both of Bardstown and Joe David (Gayla) Luckett of Oakland; two sisters, Chester Mae Roberts of Bardstown and Leola Blair of Lebanon; two brothers, Mark Luckett and Bobby Luckett, both of Louisville; 50 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Calvary with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Campbell-Dewitt Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

The Campbell-Dewitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
