2 adults, 1 child dead after Thursday morning head-on BG Parkway crash

Thursday, May 11, 2017, 2 p.m. — The Bluegrass Parkway remains closed at this hour for accident reconstruction after a tractor-trailer rig and a passenger car were involved in a head-on collision Thursday morning that injured one person and killed two adults and one child.

The accident was reported near the 25 mile marker at about 11:21 a.m. Thursday. Initial reports indicated three people in an overturned vehicle were entrapped. Two Nelson County EMS ambulances, Bardstown Police,the Nelson County Fire Department and Kentucky State Police responded to the scene.

One person involved in the accident was treated at the scene and then transported by EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital to meet a medical helicopter and flown to a Louisville hospital.

According to officials, the semi crossed the median into the westbound lanes and struck the passenger vehicle head-on.

The westbound lanes of the parkway between the 21 and 25 mile markers are expected to remain closed until 3 or 4 p.m.

The identities of the victims has not been released.
