Obituary: James Monroe Reynolds, 92, Lebanon
James Monroe Reynolds, 92 of Lebanon, died Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was born May 7, 1925 in Lebanon to the late Cora Burress and George Reynolds.
He was best known as a hardworking man who worked the land for many years as a dairy and beef cattle farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who spent time in the service stationed in Hawaii. He was a devout Christian man and a deacon emeritus of the Lebanon Baptist Church. He was witness to the Word of God and never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, Papaw and friend who will be missed greatly.
In addition to his parents, Monroe was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Spalding Reynolds; an infant daughter, Clara Jeanne; one sister, Edith Ann Bugg; two brothers, Leo Reynolds and Clayton Sullivan; and his second wife, Evelyn Anderson Reynolds.
He is survived by five children, James Michael “Mike” Reynolds (Lois) and Larry Reynolds (Carol), both of Lebanon, Connie Osborne and Tammy Downs, both of Bardstown, and Tracey Rhinehart (Greg) of Campbellsville; one sister, Clara Evans; one brother, Jerry Reynolds; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Ilda Malone; and a host of relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life is 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Lebanon Baptist Church, Mulberry Street in Lebanon with burial in the Old Liberty Cemetery in Bradfordsville.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Lebanon Baptist Church or Gideon Bibles.
The Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
