Obituary: John Sidney Keene, 61, Bardstown

John Sidney Keene, 61, of Bardstown, died Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born April 28, 1956, in Bardstown to the late Thomas Franklin and Grace Hagan Keene.

He was the former owner/operator of the old Keene’s Beverage Depot. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by two sisters, Joanne Kelleher of Massachusetts and Katherine H. Keene of Alabama; two brothers, Thomas F. Keene Jr. and James P. Keene, both of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017, and 8:30-10:30 Monday at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, with a prayer service Sunday evening at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
