Obituary: Cecilia Sue Thompson, 87, formerly of Holy Cross

CECILIA SUE THOMPSON

Cecilia Sue Thompson, 87, of Louisville, formerly of Holy Cross, died Friday, May 19, 2017, at Audubon Hospital in Louisville. She was born May 16, 1930, in Marion County. She formerly worked as a teller at the Bank of Loretto and as a bookkeeper for Loretto Hardware. She was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Howard “Buster” Thompson (1971); her parents, John Augustine and Mary Gertrude Spalding Mattingly; three sisters, Mayola Thomas, Mildred McCauley and Geraldine Cecil; and two brothers, Spalding Mattingly and infant Louis Gerald Mattingly.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Annette Thompson of Louisville; two brothers, Bernie Mattingly and John Mattingly Jr., both of Louisville.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Bryan Lamberson officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017, and 8:30-9 a.m. Monday at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Jim McCarty.

Arrangements are by Mattingly Funeral Home and Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home.
