Obituary: Larry Gene Updike, 57, Bardstown

LARRY GENE UPDIKE

Larry Gene Updike, 57, of Bardstown, died Monday, May 22, 2017, at his residence. He was born June 26, 1959, in Alexandria, Va. to the late Carlton F. and Doris LaVerne Noel Updike. He was a former employee of Bischoff Construction, a member of Cox’s Creek Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Marion County Honor Guard.

In addition to his children, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Derek Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Davis Updike; one daughter, Amy (Bill) Updike Gribbins of Springfield; one son, Kurt (Megan) Updike of Bardstown; one stepson, Brent Jackson of Boston; one sister, Sharon (Steve) Mitchell of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Mike (Brenda) Updike of Louisville; two grandchildren, Addison Gribbins and Ryker Updike; and a stepgrandson, Trenton Jackson.

The memorial service is 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road is in charge of arrangements.
