Obituary: Norris ‘Eddie’ Carney, 71, Bardstown

NORRIS “EDDIE” CARNEY

Norris “Eddie” Carney, 71, of Bardstown, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1945. in Nelson County. He was a retired teacher for Nelson County High School, a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and an FFA adviser. He was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church and an avid hunter.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Carney; his father, Norris Carney; his mother, Mary Catherine Carney; one brother-in-law, Marion Creech; and a great-niece, Grace Creech.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda Colvin Carney of Bardstown; one daughter, Melissa Carney of Bardstown; one son, Chad (Ashley) Carney of Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Judy Creech of Bloomfield; one nephew, Dave (Allison) Creech of Louisville; and two great-nephews, Trey Creech and Eli Creech.

The funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Benton officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to FFA of Nelson County High School or Gideon’s International.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
