Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 4 p.m. — An incident at a Bardstown bank Tuesday morning prompted rumors of a bank robbery that were just that — rumors.
That’s the word from Bardstown Police Chief Steve Uram about an incident that happened at about 11 a.m. Tuesday at the WesBanco Bank branch at 401 East John Rowan Blvd.
According to Uram, a man entered the bank wearing a hoodie covering his head and some type of mask or device obscuring his face. When bank employees asked him to remove the mask, the man allegedly refused. After refusing to comply with the request, the bank contacted police.
Bardstown Police responded to the scene and set up a perimeter, treating the situation as if it were a possible robbery, Uram said. They were in contact with bank employees by telephone. When the unarmed man left the bank he was taken into custody by officers.
The 25-year-old man was charged with disorderly conduct and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
