Beechwood Avenue home damaged in Sunday morning blaze

Sunday, June 4, 2017, 2 p.m. — A Beechwood Avenue home was heavily damaged by a fire reported at about 9:45 a.m. Sunday morning. The Bardstown Fire Department, police and Nelson County EMS were dispatched to the home at 727 Beechwood for a fire that was believed to have begun in the home’s kitchen as a grease fire. City firefighters were on the scene within minutes, and reported heavy smoke coming from the home. Fire crews reported the fire was under control by about 10:05 a.m. City firefighters were assisted by firefighters from the Nelson County Fire Department. Firefighters were on the scene until 11:30 a.m.
