Obituary: James T. ‘Jim’ Hicks, 81, Bardstown

James T. “Jim” Hicks, 81, of Bardstown, died Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Fairfield. He was owner of Settles Home Supply since 1970, and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of KYANA Car Club of America, and the Bardstown Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Houck Hicks; his second wife, Lee Wayne Bramlage Hicks; his parents, James T. and Lillie Hicks; and one sister, Ida Belle Hicks.

He is survived by three children, Jamie (Denise) Hicks, Rebecca Hicks, and Timothy Hicks; one sister, Kathleen Settles of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Ashley Hicks, Michelle Hicks, Sarah (Blake) Sapp, and Andrew Hicks, all of Bardstown; several nieces and nephews; and his constant companion, Duke.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Lynch officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to donor’s favorite charity.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
